Rotary Club of Pudseynews and whats going on

Jubilee service at Fulneck
22nd  September 2002

The first President of the Rotary Club of Pudsey in 1952, was Jim Lewis who was the then Headmaster of Fulneck Boy's School, so it was appropriate that our long association should continue with our Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving being held at the Moravian Church, Fulneck.

The present Minister, David Dickinson, stood aside to allow a former President of our club to take the service. Dr. Lewis Burton was our President in 1980 and is a retired Methodist Minister now living in Lancashire. Dr. Burton reminded us of the long traditions of the Rotary movement, founded on service both in our communities and overseas and how we should be striving constantly to be the best in what we do.

The lessons were read by Chris Johnson-Green and Derek Montgomery.
A light supper was available in the Boys Brigade Headquarters across the road from the Church and refreshments were provided by the Fulneck Restaurant with wine donated by our members.

Demonstrating his waiting skills is our Foundation Chairman, Malcolm Healey, a shining example of service within the community.  Malcolm has been associated with the Boys Brigade in Fulneck for many years at all levels.  His history of the movement is an engaging read and is still available through Pudsey Civic Society.
